In April 2026 Meta opened its own MCP server for ads, so Claude, ChatGPT and other AI clients can work with your ad accounts directly. If you run Meta ads, it's worth connecting. It's also worth knowing where it stops, especially if your job is launching lots of new creative. Here's a plain summary, based on Meta's developer documentation as of 31 October 2026.
What Meta's Ads MCP is
- A hosted MCP server at
https://mcp.facebook.com/ads, launched in open beta on 29 April 2026 as part of "Meta Ads AI Connectors", alongside a separate Ads CLI. - You connect it as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT (or with
claude mcp addin Claude Code) and sign in with Facebook. - Free during the beta. Meta hasn't announced post-beta pricing.
- Around 88 tools in seven groups: ad creation and management, reporting, catalogs, signals and pixels, help, A/B tests and lift studies, and activity logs. At launch there were about 29, so it's growing fast.
What it's good at
- Reporting: ask how campaigns are doing and get answers from your real data.
- One-off changes: create or edit a campaign, ad set or ad.
- Catalogs, pixels and experiments: areas most third-party tools don't touch.
- Safety defaults: new objects are created paused, your AI client asks before activating, and admins can set rules or budget caps for the MCP in Business Suite.
Where it stops for creative launches
The everyday job of "take these 40 creatives and launch them as 8 ad sets of 5, named our way, paused" isn't possible through the MCP today:
- No media upload. It can list the images and videos already in your account, but there's no tool to upload new ones from a link or a Drive folder. Meta's Ads CLI can upload, but only from files on your computer.
- One object per call. There's no batch or duplicate tool, so 40 ads means dozens of separate calls, with no rollback if one fails halfway.
- No naming rules or saved defaults. Each call needs every setting spelled out.
- Creative formats are limited. Creative creation is documented for single-image link ads; multi-media is listed as limited availability.
How to fill the gap
You don't have to choose. Keep Meta's connector for reporting, edits, catalogs and tests, and add a launcher for the bulk creative work. Ad Uploader is built for exactly that gap:
- Imports from Google Drive (private folders too, once connected), Dropbox or direct links, up to 50 files at a time.
- Pairs
_4x5and_9x16files into one ad, with_thumbimages as thumbnails. - Shows a full preview, then creates every ad set and ad as one job after you say yes.
- Creates everything paused, keeps Advantage+ enhancements off by default, and applies your naming pattern automatically.
- Remembers each ad account's Page, landing URL, copy and UTMs.
Both connectors can sit side by side in Claude, and it will pick the right one for each request. There's a full side-by-side on our Ad Uploader vs Meta Ads MCP page.
